Every year during Work Week 18, Crash Trawl Week provides LDWF's Marine Fisheries Section with an opportunity to assess the size, distribution, and abundance of brown shrimp. The information gathered during this period influences the department's advice on the commencement of the spring inshore shrimp season, which is then presented at the May meeting of the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission.

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) will conduct alligator lottery harvests on 22 LDWF Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs), 28 public lakes, and one U.S. Army Corp of Engineers (USACE) property August-November 2024. Applications are now available.

This month, the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission set the opening date within state inshore waters based on information provided by Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) biologists and public comments.
