Driver charged with Vehicular Homicide and other offenses after fatal crash involving unrestrained juvenile passengers
June 25, 2025On June 24, 2025, Agents of the Houma Police Department. Narcotics Division, along with the help of Homeland Security, the Louisiana State Police Criminal Investigations Division-Houma Field Office, and the Terrebonne Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division, executed a Narcotics search warrant at 517 Ashlawn Ave.
At around noon today, Agents from multiple agencies conducted a covert operation in which Craig McKinley Jr., James Lagarde III, and Rashaad Smith were located at 517 Ashlawn with over 20 lbs. of marijuana and over $25,000 in US currency. A search warrant was executed at the address that yielded a money counter, a vacuum sealer, and a digital scale, along with other drug paraphernalia were located in the house were two young children lived and were present during multiple transactions.
This was the closure of a four-month-long investigation into illegal narcotics sales in the Mechanicville area. During the investigation, Craig McKinley Jr. was identified as one of the primary distributors from 517 Ashlawn. As the investigation continued, James Lagarde III was identified as another distributor out of 517 Ashlawn Street.
There have been multiple traffic stops which led to the recovery of a large amount of marijuana being seized across not just Terrebonne Parish but Lafourche and St. Mary. Altogether, this operation has taken into custody over 100 lbs. of Marijuana (Street Value of $300,000), approximately $50,000 in US Currency, and roughly $50,000 in assets that are in evidence.
Several others have been identified as distributors from 517 Ashlawn Street, and arrest warrants are forthcoming for their arrest.
Craig McKinley Jr, James Lagarde III, and Rashaad Smith were charged with: Illegal use of drugs in the presence of Juv, Money Laundering/Drug Proceeds, Distribution of CDS I, Poss. CDS II, Drug Paraphernalia. McKinley and Lagarde were also charged with outstanding narcotics warrants.
With so many jurisdiction lines being crossed, all these agencies worked flawlessly together with one common goal ahead of them, and it was accomplished.
