The closed front lobby at Terrebonne General Medical Center is a sign of progress.

The hospital’s entrance will remain closed for approximately 45 days to make way for work on the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center.

Until then, the TGMC Women’s Center Entrance will serve as the main entryway to the hospital, according to hospital spokespeople. A receptionist is stationed at the entrance to assist in directing patients and visitors to their specific destinations. Signage is also posted to help direct patients and visitors to the alternate entrance.

“We appreciate everyone’s patience while our hospital is expanding to include our Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at TGMC. This state-of-the-art comprehensive cancer center is scheduled to open in the summer of this year,” Phyllis Peoples, president and CEO of TGMC, said in a release.

The hospital’s front lobby gift shop has also been relocated to the TGMC Women’s Center gift shop.

According to the release, all other gift shop locations – the Emergency Room, Medical Arts and Women’s Center sites – remain open for business.

Tickets for Ladies Night Out are also being sold at the Women’s Center gift shop.
