Weekend totals see over 5,000 new cases; Terrebonne surpasses 7,000 total cases

Today, the Louisiana Department of Health is reporting the total number of cases has risen to 346,829. That’s 5,413 more cases since Friday. 310,957 are confirmed; 35,872 are probable.

 

The state is reporting 40 new deaths, bringing the total to 7,873 deaths. 7,447 are confirmed; 426 are probable.

 

The total of presumed recovered as of 1/4/21 is 280,373, which is 16,661 more than last week.


 

Lafourche Parish is reporting, 6,871 cases. There are 5,710 confirmed and 1,161 probable. That’s 79 new cases since Friday. They are reporting 164 deaths; 156 are confirmed and 8 are probable. Percent positivity for the week of Dec. 24-30 is 10.70%, up 35.44% from the week prior, which was 7.90%. Incidence is 320.03.

 

Terrebonne Parish is reporting 7,100 cases. There are 6,095 confirmed and 1,005 probable. That’s 126 more cases since Friday. They are reporting 156 deaths; 147 are confirmed and 9 are probable. Percent positivity for the week of Dec. 24-30 is 16.20%, up 36.13% from the week prior, which was 11.90%. Incidence is 353.99.

 

Statewide, there are 1,960 COVID-19 patients in hospitals, 225 are on ventilators. That’s 109 less patients since Friday, and 5 more on ventilators.


 

The total of tests reported today is 4,661,141, which is 52,294 more tests than Friday. There are 4,410,047 molecular tests and 251,094 antigen tests.

 

There have been a total of 84,601 tests in Lafourche (77,431 molecular and 7,170 antigen) and 82,751 tests in Terrebonne (77,540 molecular and 5,211 antigen). That’s 1,005 more tests in Lafourche and 1,164 more in Terrebonne since Friday.
