Alvin “Big Al” Mitchell, 61, a native of Napoleonville, La., and a resident of St. James, La., died Sunday, August 3.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen M. Mitchell of St. James; one sister, Corrine Jackson of Paincourtville, La.; one brother, Horace Mitchell and wife Dorothy of Napoleonville; one grandchild; and numerous relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Gertrude Mitchell; and one sister, Lois Williams.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, August 16, at Bright Morning Star Baptist Church in Napoleonville with a religious service to follow. He will be buried at the church cemetery.
Williams and Southall Funeral Home of Napoleonville is in charge of the arrangements.
