Ellis J. Griffin Sr., 88, a native of Lafourche Parish, La., and resident of Boutte, La., died at 6:45 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011.

Mr. Griffin was a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

He is survived by his sons, Gerald, Ellis Jr. and Donald Griffin; daughters, Irma Vicknair, Dolores Gassen, Audrey Breaux, Mary LeBlanc, Phyllis Breaux and Annette Gray; brothers, Horace and Herbert Griffin; 21 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Elma Lirette Griffin; parents, Telemaque “Macko” and Josephine Rodrigue Griffin; son, Dick Griffin; two brothers, Alexander and Clifton Griffin; three sisters, Theresa Griffin, Evelina Rodrigue and Shirley Griffin; and one grandchild.

He is buried at St. Mary Cemetery.
