Henry J. Perkins, 102, a native of Terrebonne Parish, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died Saturday, January 3.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel Garner Perkins; one son, Terry Garner and wife Gloria of Baton Rouge, La.; one daughter, Estelle Alvis of Houma; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ivory Collins Perkins; his parents, Henry and Martha Taylor Perkins; two sons, John L. Perkins and Nolan Perkins; one brother, Clemmons Perkins; and two sisters, Sarah Perkins Smith and Laura Perkins.
He was a retired insurance agent with Gertrude Geddes Willis Insurance Company, a member of Stone Square Lodge No. 239 of Houma, a Deacon and was active in the community. He was a member of First Corinthian Baptist Church.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, January 10, at First Corinthian Baptist Church with mass to follow. Burial will be at New Rising Sun Baptist Church Cemetery.
Gertrude Geddes Willis-Terrebonne Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
