Isaac “Fat Sam” Johnson Jr., 73, a native and resident of Thibodaux, La., died Sunday, June 22.
He is survived by one daughter, Melissa “Missy” Johnson of Thibodaux; one son, Ronald “Roy” Johnson of Raceland, La.; brothers, Raymond Sr., Hubert Sr., and wife Dorothy, and Leonard Sr. all of Thibodaux, Clifton of Los Angeles, Ca.; Welton and wife Linnie of Gardenia, Ca. and Donald Johnson of Washington D.C.; two sisters, Delores Plaisance and Barbara Perio and husband Edward all of Thibodaux; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Helen Every Johnson; parents, Isaac Sr. and Gertrude Pike Johnson; three sisters, Margie Bourgeois, Doris Johnson and Viola Johnson; and one brother, Roland Johnson Sr.
He was a member of Moses Baptist Church and served on the Usher Board until his health failed. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a former member of the Lafourche Parish Council. He was also a Past Commander of American Legion, Raymond Stafford Post 513 of Thibodaux.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, and 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, at Moses Baptist Church in Thibodaux. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the church. He will be buried at Mt. Zion B.C. Cemetery.
