Melvin Woods, 48, a native and resident of Schriever, La., died Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011.
Mr. Woods was a member of First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his devoted friend, Patricia Lafont; mother, Ethel Woods; sisters, Diane (Louis) Williams, Yolanda (Paul) Davis, Beverly (Terry) Washington, Stephanie (Raymond) Livas, Beverly (Davis) Stewart, Valerie Woods and Rhonda (Carl) Brown; brothers, Gerald (Cynthia) Nixon and Dwayne Antwan; and stepbrother, Charles (Charlene) Harold.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Woods Sr.; and brothers, James Jr., Orlando and David Woods.
Burial was at First Baptist Church Cemetery in Schriever. (Kennedy)
