October 30, 2012Perry J.L. Bourgeois, 87, a native and resident of Chackbay, La., died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012.
Mr. Bourgeois was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was the recipient of the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Purple Heart, two Bronze Stars and numerous other meritorious citations. He was a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Disabled American Veterans American Legion and VFW. He was a founder and lifetime member of the Chackbay Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Emily Bourgeois; son, Michael (Christine) Bourgeois; sisters, Myrtle Rodrigue, Thelma Abadie, Elma Allemand and Rita Scioneaux; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Bourgeois; mother, Ada (Rida) Rodrigue; brothers, Vernon Bourgeois and Rida Rodrigue Jr.; and sister, Velma Falgoust. (Thibodaux)
