Andree Laura Castagnos Alexander, 79, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 28, 2024.


Born March 13, 1945 to the late Hazel Felix and Lee J. Castagnos, Andree was a native and resident of Houma. She is survived by her devoted husband, Dr. Herbert R. Alexander, Jr.; step- children Herbert (Trey) Alexander III, (Dawn); Dr. Randall (Randy) Alexander; Susan (Su-sue) Hentze (Brett); 7 step grandchildren; and brothers-in-law Dr. Robert Alexander- wife Suzanne and Karl Alexander- wife Shelley.

Andree is also survived by her sister, Glenny Lee Castagnos Buquet; her goddaughters Andree Buquet-Casey and Connie Castagnos Hebert; and many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews who all affectionately called her Nini. She is preceded in death by her brother, Lee J. Castagnos, Jr.

Andree was a graduate of Terrebonne High School and the University of Louisiana Lafayette. Her career expanded decades in the medical field where she lived in Spicewood, Texas prior to returning home in her retirement years.


She will be remembered for her amazing equestrian skills, her love of competing in buggy and carriage driving competitions and raising Tennessee Walkers, Palominos and miniature horses.

Andree was a member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2024 from 9:00 am until service time at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church. A Memorial Service will begin at 11:00 am at the church.
