The Danos Foundation recently presented a gift of $10,430 from its Danos GIVES grant program and Danos WORKS initiative to Second Harvest Food Bank. The award will help Second Harvest Food Bank fight hunger in Lafourche and Terrebonne parishes and provide for nearly 42,000 meals to help neighbors in need.

“We are grateful to The Danos Foundation and their employees for not only their charitable gift, but for their desire to help families who are facing uncertain times in Lafourche and Terrebonne parishes,” said Natalie Jayroe, President and CEO of Second Harvest Food Bank. “The need for food assistance over the last year has increased tremendously, and we anticipate that the increased need will continue as families navigate the lingering impacts of the pandemic,” Jayroe added.

The Danos GIVES grant program awards funding to organizations and initiatives in areas where Danos employees live or work. Additionally, the Danos WORKS program awards donations to organizations where Danos employees volunteer their personal time and expertise. The grant and volunteer programs are funded through charitable gifts from Danos employees and funds from the company.

“The Danos Foundation impacts and improves communities where we live and work through gifts that reflect our purpose and values,” said Renee Piper, Danos Foundation Executive Director. “Our employees generously give their time, talent and treasure to support organizations like Second Harvest Food Bank. This organization fights hunger in our community every day, which is particularly important during uncertain times that may place a greater burden on families and seniors who struggle to put food on their table.”

Every $1 donated to Second Harvest Food Bank helps provide four meals for a family in need.  To donate, volunteer, or learn more about Second Harvest Food Bank, visit www.no-hunger.org.
