February 25, 2015Alvin John Dominique Jr., 56, a native of Gheens, Louisiana, and resident of Houma, Louisiana, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2015.
Mr. Dominique was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He was a ship designer and builder for L&A Iron Works. He served as a board member of the Council on Aging in Raceland; president of Lafourche Recreation District No. 8; president of Vacherie-Gheens Community Center; president of Lafourche Fire District 9; member of the Gheens Jaycees; pastoral president of St. Anthony Catholic Church; member of the Professional Photographers of America and PPL A president of South Louisiana Professional Photographers Guild; volunteer of Vacherie-Gheens Fire Department; and longtime member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Rebecca Cressoine Dominique; sons, Alvin III (Beth), Jonas and Jake Dominique; mother, Joyceline Dominique Boudreaux; sisters, Angela (Andy) Cotton, Susan (Ralph) Caillouet and Tanya (James) Bacon; brothers, Herman (Angele) and Maj. Dean (Elizabeth) Dominique, U.S. Army (Ret.); and numerous other relatives.
Burial is at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church Cemetery.
