The Terrebonne Economic Development Authority will host its Contractors College on March 10-11 at the South Central Planning and Development Corp.

The Contractors College is a training program that prepares business contractors to qualify for the state licensing examination. According to TEDA CEO Steve Vassallo, the event is particularly beneficial for entrepreneurs wanting to open their own businesses.

As an intensive two-day training seminar, with focused attention on the construction industry, Contractor’s College participants will be taught how to improve operations of particular concern to banks, insurance providers and surety companies regarding credit, capital, capacity and credibility.

“This is an ongoing program that TEDA has had,” Vassallo said. “We think it is very important that we continue offering these types of services to the community at large. It is part of our business outreach program and critically important to the entire community.

The Contractor’s College is funded by a grant provided through the Louisiana Innovation Loan and Technical Assistance Program, and sponsorships from SCPDC and Options for Independence. Personnel with SCPDC and Options will be available during the training sessions to offer technical support.

Participants are being accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Registration can be made through the TEDA office at 319 Roussell St. For detailed information, check ILTAPLiaison@eda.org or call (985) 873-6890.
