Roads have started to re-open.

 

9:55 am update from Louisiana State Police:
** Assumption, Terrebonne, and Lafourche Parishes – portions of US Hwy 90 are now open for traffic. Troopers are performing slow-moving convoys to allow traffic to flow safely in areas where some ice is present. DOTD crews are out applying salt/sand to roadways. Motorists should use caution and expect some slow-moving traffic congestion.
** St. Mary Parish – As of now, the Amelia Bridge is still closed to vehicular traffic due to remaining ice on the roadway.

I-10 open in both directions at Mississippi State Line

Twin Spans open eastbound

 

The Sunshine Bridge remains open at this time but the entrance ramp from Hwy 44 and the exit ramp off the bridge to Hwy 44 is closed at this time due to ice.
The Veterans Memorial Bridge is completely open at this time.

The Hale Boggs Bridge from LA-18 River Road to LA-28 River Road has reopened. 1-310 to 1-10 remains closed. All Northbound traffic must exit on LA-48 River Road.

 

 

LSP Road Closures Due to Icy Conditions

LSP advises Hwy. 90 is closed from Amelia to Hwy. 182.

The Twin Span (New Orleans) is closed going westbound due to icy conditions. The Bonnet Carre Spillway is also closed in both directions

 

 

I-55 South is now closed at Ponchatoula with traffic being diverted to the Old Highway 51 Frontage Road, also known as the “low road”. Traffic congestion has quickly built up on Old Highway 51 and authorities are advising to take causing using alternate routes.

 

The I-55 Manchac Bridge, north and south, has been shutdown due to extreme icy conditions. Traffic has been diverted onto US 51 from Ponchatoula to Laplace.

Southbound I-310/Hale Boggs Bridge is closed due to multi-car crash

** Assumption/ St. Mary Parish to Lafourche Parish – US Hwy 90 between the Amelia Bridge (milepost 182) and LA Hwy 182 (milepost 210) in Raceland is closed in both directions due to ice forming on multiple sections of the roadway

** St. James Parish – The Sunshine Bridge ( LA Hwy 70) has been closed in both directions due to ice forming on the roadway.
** St. John the Baptist Parish – The Veterans Memorial Bridge ( LA Hwy 3213) has been closed in both directions due to ice forming on the roadway.

4:35 AM  Causeway remains closed. Crescent City Connection is OPEN but HOV lanes are closed.

Troopers and local deputies will continue to monitor roadway conditions for improvement as the temperature rises above freezing later in the day. Updates to these road closures will be posted here. Do not drive around barricades that have been set up.
Bridges and overpasses ice over before surface level roadways. Avoid unnecessary travel in these conditions. If you have to drive, use extreme caution and utilize a map or a GPS to find alternate routes that avoid elevated portions of the roadway. Also use www.511la.org, the “Louisiana 511” phone app, or view Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) social media accounts for roadway closure information.
