September 12, 2012Hunters and campers looking to stock up on supplies for upcoming hunting seasons can take advantage of this weekend’s Sales Tax Holiday, Sept 7 to 9.
Customers across the state will pay no sales taxes on firearms, ammunition and hunting supplies during the Louisiana Second Amendment Weekend tax holiday. Eligible purchases, from guns to archery items to all-terrain vehicles designed for hunting, will be exempt from the 4 percent state sales tax and local sales taxes.
Other exempt items include hunting accessories like blinds and tree stands, bags to carry game or hunting gear, optics like rangefinders, riflescopes and impact resistant glasses for shooting, knives, decoys, hearing protection gear and enhancements and hunting shoes or boots designed and used for hunting;
Hunting apparel like safety gear, camouflage clothing, jackets, hats, gloves, mittens, facemasks, belts, and thermal underwear will also be exempt from taxes.
