July 13, 2017Lloyd “Chief” J. Legendre, 93, a native and resident of Thibodaux, La., died on Monday, July 3, 2017.
Mr. Legendre was awarded a Purple Heart for his service in the United States Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He worked at Lafourche Sugars as a chief engineer and factory manager for 56 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Shirley Ray Legendre; children, Frances Pitonyak, Elaine (Ronnie) Von Almen-Thormas, Duane (Charlotte) Legendre and Mary (Doug) Miller; sisters, Elsie Taylor and Ida Neal; 10 grandchildren and four step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Burial is at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church Cemetery in Thibodaux.
