Ronald “T-Ray” Ray Matherne, 64, a native of Marrero, La., and a resident of Cut Off, La., died Wednesday, May 28, at 12:35 a.m.
He is survived by his wife, Julia Young Matherne; son, Harold Gassenberger; daughters, Jennifer Knower and husband John, Angelique Matherne, Margaret Parker and husband Bob and Deborah Wonn; brothers, Ted Sr. and Jim Sr. Matherne; sisters, Muriel Dunn, Myra Cannaliato, Betty Ford and Vera Sue Smith; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward J. and Esther Savoie Matherne; brother, Robert “Bobby” Matherne Sr.; and sisters, Marion Plaisance and Rose Marie Matherne.
He was retired from Northrop Grumman (Avondale Shipyard).
Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, May 30, and 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday, May 31, at Samart Funeral Home of Houma with the funeral to follow Saturday. He will be buried at Rogers Cemetery.
Samart Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
