Elmira Matthews Short, 57, a native of Terrebonne Parish and a resident of Baton Rouge, La., died Tuesday, April 15.
She is survived by her sons, Jamie Short and Joel Short and wife Tameka of Baton Rouge; daughter, Hadajji Short of Baton Rouge; brother, John Matthews of Kansas City, Mo.; sisters, Jerrye Matthews of Marrero, La. and Delores Matthews of Kansas City; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Matthews and Willie Mae Dangerfield Matthews; son, TeJuan Matthews; and grandparents, Willie Dangerfield, Amy Bolden Dangerfield, Emma Porche Dangerfield and John Matthews.
She was a Baptist and she enjoyed life.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, April 21, at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church in Gibson, La., with the funeral to follow. She will be buried at the church cemetery.
Community Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
