Debbie M. Nelson, 48, a native of Dularge, La., and resident of Gray, La., died at 8:20 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, 2011.
Mrs. Nelson was a member of St. Matthews Baptist Church where she served as an usher. She was employed with the Terrebonne Parish School Board.
She is survived by her husband, Melvin Nelson; mother, Jeannette (Henry) Franklin-Jones; father, Clarence Johnson; son, Joram Lawson; daughters, Jameka and Janeesha Lawson; brothers, Samuel and Edward (Andrea) Lawson, Charles and Stanley Jones and Clarence Jr. and Reginald Johnson; sisters, Janice Lawson, Carolyn (Wayne Sr.) and Marilyn (Curtis) Williams and Trenell and Valerie Johnson; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2 at Community Funeral Home. Religious services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3 at St. Matthews Baptist Church with burial at the church cemetery. (Community)
