Aircraft enthusiasts converge on Houma-Terrebonne Airport for a special day of exhibits and fly-ins that also includes free ride-alongs in small aircrafts.

Static aircraft displays at the 2013 Cajun Fly-in include a DC-3 and L-39 Albatros, several home-constructed aircrafts and helicopter displays.

Children and teenagers between 7 and 17 can register in the Young Eagles program, and adults can participate in the Eagle Flights. Rides are given on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office, Houma Police Department and Houma Fire Department will have equipment and personnel on hand.

The Regional Military Museum sets up World War II exhibits, and LUMCON hosts an interactive children’s exhibit.

Free door prizes for registered aircrews and EAA members include a bushel of crabs, a case of engine oil and emergency rescue tools. The general public can win a helicopter ride, a ride in a World War II landing craft, crabs, motor oil and more.

Burgers, hot dogs, drinks, jambalaya, snowballs and ice cream are sold.

Admission and parking are free. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 19 at Hangar No. 1.
