Jail inmate accused of rape dies after hanging

Donald Wayne Hicks, 87, a native of Beaumont, Texas, and resident of Cut Off, Louisiana, died on Saturday, June 25, 2016.
Mr. Hicks was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and a member of American Legion Post #379 in Bedford, Texas. He was a big LSU fan and was an accomplished leatherworker.
He is survived by his companion, Barbara Danner; sons, Lester and Gilbert (Teri) Hicks; daughter, Kristy Hicks Thompson; and five grandchildren.
Burial is at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery. (Falgout)
