October 13, 2011
Love speed? Love water? Take note: The Morgan City Power Boat Association is again hosting the Atchafalaya Eastern Divisional Powerboat Races on Oct. 8-9 at the Lake Palourde Parkway in Morgan City.
More than 70 inboard powerboats in multiple classes are expected to race, according to Marie Siracusa of the MCPBA.
Tickets are $8 per person in advance at MC Bank and the St. Mary Chamber of Commerce or $10 at the gate. Children age 12 and under are admitted free all weekend. In addition to a variety of food, Siracusa said this year’s event includes kid’s activities, arts and crafts and live performances by the Crappel Brothers beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday.
Visitors should take note: ice chests, outside food, barbecue pits, pets and glass will not be allowed in the park. For more information, call Siracusa at (985) 519-2678, Carla Dartez at (985) 759-0310 or the chamber at (985) 384-3830 or visit www.cajuncoast.com.
