Gene J. Smith Sr., age 71, passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2018, at his residence. He was a longtime resident of Houma.
Gene is survived by his wife, Arlene B. Smith; children, Craig Duplantis Sr., and Larry Duplantis Jr.; grandchildren, Craig Duplantis Jr., and Taylor Duplantis; he is also survived by Bobby Smith Sr. and wife, Mary, Sheryl Waddell and husband, Ronnie, and Gene Smith Jr.; grandchildren, Matthew Waddell, Bobby Smith Jr., Alex Smith, Chase Smith, and Tia Smith; twin brother, Johnny Smith Jr. and wife, Shirley; and sister, Ledora Hernandez and husband, Juan.
Gene was a kind, loving and gentle man. He had a big heart and would also help anyone. He enjoyed working for Southland Dodge with over 46 years of service until his retirement.
The family would like to thank Jeff Teuton Sr. and Frank Teuton Jr. for all the help and kindness that they show to Gene and all the workers at Southland Dodge.
