Lafourche permit office tries to stymie
April 21, 2011Need a copy of a crash report from the Louisiana State Police? It’s just a click away.
The agency’s Traffic Records Section provides easy public access to crash reports through the Louisiana State Police Website, www.lsp.org. A link directing Web visitors to such reports statewide is posted on the homepage.
A login ID must be created to finalize transactions, and each crash report costs $8.50 – Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover are accepted.
Once checkout is complete, customers will be able to print a PDF copy of the requested report.
Beginning June 1, State Police will no longer accept mail-in requests for crash reports or service walk-in customers. All mailed requests postmarked after May 31 will be returned to the sender, Lt. Doug Cain II said in a news release.
“This year-long process has helped State Police streamline the numerous requests received from the public, and has made it more convenient for the public to obtain a crash report,” Cain said. “From the launch of online sales in April of 2010 until Dec. 31, 2010, Traffic Records sold almost 9,000 crash reports online. This accounts for over 50 percent of all crash report sales statewide.”
Crash reports are also available at local Louisiana State Police Troops. Fatal crash reports are available in person only at an area Troop. Louisiana State Police Troop C, located at 4047 W. Park Ave. in Gray, serves the Tri-parish region. For more information, contact Troop C at (985) 876-8831.
Additional Troop offices are available at the Louisiana State Police website.
