Thibodaux man charged with 5th-0ffense DWI

A 57-year-old Thibodaux man was arrested this weekend for his fifth DWI.

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre said that around 1:15 a.m. on Saturday, deputies initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling on La. Highway 304 near School Lane in Chackbay.

During the stop, authorities identified the driver as Billy Vaughn, 57, of Thibodaux.

Officers on the scene observed possible signs of intoxication in Vaughn and upon questioning, he allegedly admitted to consuming alcoholic beverages prior to driving the vehicle.

Vaughn submitted to a field sobriety test on which he performed poorly.

He refused a breathalyzer test, so deputies obtained a warrant for a blood test and his blood sample was sent to the State Police Crime Lab to be tested for its alcohol content.

When processing Vaughn, authorities noted that the suspect had been charged with DWI several times before.

He was taken to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center on charges of DWI (fifth-offense), unlawful refusal to submit to chemical tests and improper lane usage.

Vaughn’s bond has been set at $77,200, but he is not eligible to be released because of a hold that’s been placed on him by the Louisiana Probation and Parole Board.

Missing Ohio woman found safe in Thibodaux

A missing Ohio woman has been found safe by the Thibodaux Police Department.

Last week, reports on social media claimed that Amy Roman, of Ohio, was missing. The Facebook posts said Roman was thought to be in the Thibodaux area.

Upon seeing the post, Thibodaux Police officers immediately started investigating Roman’s disappearance as a missing person case.

Upon doing so, TPD said they immediately discovered that Roman wasn’t missing, but instead just didn’t want to be found by the people in Ohio.

Officers continued their investigation and were able to locate Roman. Through questioning, they determined that she was in the area and was visiting with friends, but was not in harm’s way.

The Thibodaux Police Department said they don’t usually share information about cases like this because of the privacy of the people in question. But because some of the discussion in the original post questioned TPD’s response to the case, it said it wanted to clarify its position and give an update on Roman.

Screaming woman leads to TPD recovering drugs and gun

A 21-year-old Thibodaux man was arrested earlier this month after he was allegedly found in possession of a weapon while in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance.

On July 2 at around 2:30 a.m., authorities went to a motel in the 1200 Block of Canal Boulevard after a caller reported that there was a woman screaming in the vicinity.

Officers arrived, but could not find a disturbance.

As they were walking around the complex, Michael Price, 21, of 618 Church St., opened the door to his room and authorities said they could smell suspected marijuana coming from the inside.

Price told TPD that he and his girlfriend had gotten into an argument earlier.

After investigation, authorities said they learned that Price had lied about his real name when first asked by TPD.

Price had three active warrants for his arrest in Terrebonne.

Police were able to get a search warrant for the room and once they did, they found suspected marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a firearm in the room.

Price was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, illegal carrying of a weapon in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, resisting an officer, possession of drug paraphernali and three failure to appear warrants he had outstanding on his record.

Price was taken to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center and was booked on a $34,550 bond.

TPS0 seeks help identifying suspect who damaged local business

The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office is asking for public help to identify a suspect who was caught on video trying to break into a business on Martin Luther King Boulevard on June 30.

On that date, TPSO said it responded to 1714 Martin Luther King Boulevard in reference to an attempted burglary at the business in that area.

Authorities said there was damage to the business where the suspects attempted to make entry, and the business owner has surveillance of the alleged incident, which shows an adult black man trying to enter the establishment.

The man is slender in build and is wearing a maroon-colored long sleeve shirt. He has on black Nike shoes with a white check.

Call TPSO at (985) 876-2500 to give a tip.
