Clifton “Poncho” Stoves, 56, a native of Terrebonne, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died Friday, October 17.
He is survived by his wife, Lucy Brister Stoves of McComb, Ms.; three daughters, Tomeka Stoves of Houma, Serena Barthelomew of New Orleans, La., and Alma Bates and husband Ronnie of McComb; two brothers, Elward Stoves Jr. and Gilbert Stoves of Houma; five sisters, Margarite Stoves, Edna Mae Stoves, Rosemary S. Richard, Thelma Thomas and husband Eddie all of Houma and Melvina Stoves of Upland, Ca.; five grand-children; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elward Sr. and Gertrude Verdin Stoves; one brother, J.C. Stoves; two sisters, Ellamenta Stoves and Mary Smith; and his grandparents, Clara and Millard Stoves and Cecila and Joseph Verdin.
He worked for Express Rental Tools of Houma and was a member of Howard Third Zion Travelers Baptist Church.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, October 25, at Howard Third Zion Travelers Baptist Church with mass to follow. He will be buried at Crozier Cemetery.
Gertrude Geddes Willis-Terrebonne Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
