Recovery’s been tough, but hospital emerges healthier

Rosedell Eve Darcey Gautreaux, 93, a native and resident of Houma, La., died Monday, Sept. 7, at 9:15 a.m.
She is survived by three sons, Carroll X. Gautreaux of Baton Rouge, La., Donald J. Gautreaux and wife Sally of Houma, and Gerald Gautreaux and wife Betty of Houma; one daughter, Merril G. Matherne and husband Glenn of Houma; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Xavier Joseph Darcey and Vadella Burke Darcey; husband, Nelson J. Gautreaux; two brothers, Floyd Darcey and Harold Darcey; and one sister, Sophie Charrier.
She was Catholic and a parishioner of St. Eloi Catholic Church. She was a lunchroom manager for Terrebonne Parish School Board for 25 years. She was a member of the Happy Mixers Bowling League, the St. Eloi Kaycee Auxiliary, and the Cackling Hens Card Club.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, at St. Eloi Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
