WEATHER HURTING FISHING
June 15, 2017Our earthly fathers are here for a season and specific reason. They usually try their very best, despite their limitations, to meet our needs, soothe our hurts, comfort and provide for us. We should honor them, respect them, and show them in a tangible way how much we appreciate all the things they did for us.
If they are no longer with us here on earth, cherish the good memories and forgive the hurtful ones, because they are simply men who tried their best and at times came up short. Yet our Heavenly Father will never leave us or forsake us and will carry us all the way to our earthly finish line.
The following are famous quotations about fathers from various authors.
“A good father is one of the most unsung, unpraised, unnoticed, and yet one of the most valuable assets in our society.” (Evangelist Billy Graham)
“The most important thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother.” (Rev. Theodore Hesburgh, President Emeritus of the University of Notre Dame)
“I was raised in the greatest of homes . . . had a really great dad. I miss him so much . . . he was a good man, a real simple man . . . Very faithful, always loved my mom, always provided for the kids, and just a lot of fun.” (Max Lucado, Christian Author)
“Train a child in the way he or she should go – but be sure you go that way yourself.” (Charles Spurgeon, 19th Century British Theologian)
“It is much easier to become a father than to be one.” (Kent Nerburn, U.S. Educator)
“People ought to live so that everybody knows they are Christians but most of all, their families ought to know.” (Dwight L. Moody, 19th Century American Evangelist)
“My father didn’t tell me how to live; he lived, and let me watch him do it.” (Clarence Budington Kelland, U.S. writer)
“How true Daddy’s words were when he said: ‘All children must look after their own upbringing.’ Parents can only give good advice or put them on the right paths, but the final forming of a person’s character lies in their own hands.” (Anne Frank, Jewish Holocaust victim)
“We are given children to test us and make us more spiritual.” (George Will, U.S. journalist)
“It is easier for a father to have children than for children to have a real father.” (Pope John XXIII)
“The Lord is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him.” (Psalm 103:13)
“The father of godly children has cause for joy. What a pleasure to have children who are wise.” (Proverbs 23:24)
Take some time this Father’s Day to thank our Heavenly Father, as well as the man who gave you birth. It was all part of God’s plan. If your earthly dad was a believer, you can look forward to a heavenly reunion that will blow your mind! That’s the deepest love you can ever experience!
Dads, enjoy your day and the people near and dear to you. For those of us whose dads have passed from this life, remember the good, let go of the bad, and hang onto God’s everlasting love. The following prayer for our dads is based on Ephesians 3:14-19.
“God, according to the riches of your glory, grant to all our Fathers, that they be strengthened with power through your Spirit in their inner beings. May Christ dwell in their hearts through faith. Being rooted and grounded in love, may they have the strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses all knowledge. May they be filled with the fullness of God.”
May all you fathers have a great Father’s Day!
