August 1, 2011Alvin John Duplantis, 89, a native of Houma, La., and resident of New Iberia, La., died at 10:25 p.m. Monday, July 25, 2011.
Mr. Duplantis was a U.S. Navy and U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He had a deep commitment to his country and was a firm believer in the Constitution and all the freedoms he fought for. He was a retired land surveyor for the State of Louisiana and an avid bird lover.
He is survived by 18 nieces and nephews and numerous great, and great-great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Awed and Lucinda Duplantis; sisters, Beulah Doiron, Violet Legrendre, Justine Hendrix and Shirley Poincoit; and brothers, Remebert, Edward, Minor and Dewey Duplantis.
Burial was at Holy Rosary Cemetery. (Samart)
