May 24, 2016Suspect attacks 4 at fast food restaurant
A suspect is in custody after allegedly attacking multiple victims at a Thibodaux fast food restaurant.
TPD Chief of Police Bryan Zeringue said that on May 21 at approximately 11:24 a.m., James Woolens, 29, of 561 West Park Ave., went into a fast food joint in the 800 block of North Canal Boulevard and punched four people.
Witnesses said Woolens became angry and hit an unsuspecting female victim. When employees approached him, he struck three others — all of which refused medical attention.
Woolens was charged with disturbing the peace. He posted a $9,000 bond.
Lockport woman tries to run down ex-boyfriend
A Lockport woman allegedly went off the road in an attempt to run over her ex.
Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre said authorities were called to Lockport on May 16 in reference to an alleged aggravated assault.
Authorities said they noticed Tracy Eschette, 36, of Lockport, driving a pickup truck southbound on La. Highway 1. Once officers got to her door, they said a pipe fell out of the vehicle. When it did, Eschette allegedly crushed it under her feet.
During investigation of the assault claim, authorities learned Eschette was giving a ride to an ex-boyfriend when she passed up his residence and then ordered him out of the truck.
The suspect started to pull away, but then allegedly returned, driving toward the man in a hostile manner.
To avoid the truck, the man jumped over a ditch, but Eschette continued forward, allegedly driving into the ditch, narrowly missing the victim. She then got back on the highway and fled the scene.
She was arrested and charged with domestic abuse, aggravated assault, possession of drug paraphernalia and obstruction of justice. Bond has been set at $11,000, but she will not be eligible to post it, because of a hold placed by the Louisiana Probation and Parole Board.
2 charged after durg exchange fails
A plan went all too wrong this week for Schriever woman Jenna Landry.
As a result, both she and Lafourche Parish Detention Center inmate Jared Benoit are facing charges.
Last Thursday, deputies near the Lafourche Parish Courthouse said they witnessed Landry place an unknown item on the inmate transport van before walking away. Deputies located Klonpin pills and Suboxone strips wrapped in plastic.
During questioning, Landry said she placed the illegal narcotics there so that Benoit could retrieve them and bring them to the Lafourche jail.
Authorities also found evidence that the two had planned the drop-off before it took place.
Landry is charged with criminal conspiracy, possession of Suboxone and Klonpon, attempted distribution of Suboxone and Klonopin and attempted introduction of contraband into a penal institution.
Benoit was being held on contempt of court charges related to failed child support payments and failure to appear on traffic violations.
