A motorcyclist, with a passenger seated behind him, led officers from three local police agencies on a high-speed chase over a half-dozen major highways, beginning in Larose, snaking into Terrebonne Parish, then back into Larose before running out of gas.

No injuries were reported.

Trooper Evan Harrell of Louisiana State Police Troop C said a trooper was working radar enforcement at milepost 65 on La. Highway 308 shortly before midnight Thursday and saw the motorcycle headed north at a high rate of speed, at that time 80 mph in a 55 mph zone.

“The trooper activated his emergency lights and attempted to stop the motorcycle at which time the motorcycle accelerated and a pursuit ensued,” Harrell said.

Lafourche Parish deputies joined the chase, eventually leading to Bayou Blue Road with Terrebonne deputies joined in to assist within their jurisdiction. The motorcycle led troopers and the Terrebonne deputies over the Prospect Street Bridge and then south onto La. Highway 24, whizzing on to the Bourg-Larose Highway where Terrebonne broke off.

With State Police still in pursuit the motorcycle traveled the length of the Bourg-Larose Highway and then turned onto southbound La. Highway 1, when it ran out of fuel. Both the drier and the passenger surrendered.

The driver, 32-year-old Corey Dupre of Orange Street in Larose, was charged with flight from an officer, reckless operation of a vehicle, illegal carrying of weapons, no driver’s license on person and speeding.

The passenger, 35-year old Lacy Nelson of Galliano, was arrested for an outstanding warrant from Lafourche Parish.
