Raymond “Chief” Hernandez Sr., 82, a native and resident of Mathews, La., died on Sunday, December 25, 2016.

Mr. Hernandez was a lifetime member of the Lockport Fire Department, the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. He was a drummer for the Cajun Ramblers and inducted into the Cajun Music Hall of Fame.

He is survived by his son, Raymond (Brandy) Hernandez Jr.; daughters, Tina (Edwin) Dunn and Angela (John) Lewis; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Burial is at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Raceland.
