October 23, 2010Willard Joseph Fanguy, 88, a native and resident of Chauvin, La., died at 5:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010.
Mr. Fanguy was a past commander and lifetime member of VFW Post 9608 and a lifetime member of the American Legion Post No. 272. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and a parishioner of St. Joseph Church.
He is survived by his wife, Anaise LeBoeuf Fanguy; son, Herbert (Jennie) Fanguy; brother, Emile Fanguy; three grandchildren; Floyd Jr. and Jerome Fanguy, and Troy Rogers; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Louis and Amanda Marie Naquin Fanguy; son, Floyd Fanguy Sr.; grandchildren, Edgar Fanguy and Regina Duplantis; great-grandson, Joshua Fanguy; seven brothers, Allen, Edward, Edgar Jr., Lloyd, Slydell, Guy and Claude Sr. Fanguy; five sisters, Ella Bourg, Lena Cancienne, Thelma Henry, Edna Thibodeaux and Annie Voisin.
The pallbearers are Floyd Jr., Jerome, Jody, Bradley, Herbert and Claude Jr. Fanguy, and Troy Rogers.
The family wishes to express special thanks to everyone for their thoughts an prayers, his caregivers, Floyd Jr. “Poncho” and April Fanguy, Jeannette Billiot and Cellina LeBoeuf and also to Dr. Jules Dupont, Dr. Soignet and V.A Bayou Home Care, Hospice of South Louisiana and all their staff.
He is buried at St. Elie Cemetery.
