Kelmer Lloyd Steverson Sr., 83, a native and resident of Houma, La., died Saturday, March 21, 2010.

A member of Mt. Horeb Baptist Church, Mr. Steverson served in the U.S. Coast Guard. Most recently, he was a power plant operator at Kaiser Aluminum’s Chalmette plant and Calciner Industries Inc. He enjoyed reading, gardening, fishing and crabbing.

He is survived by sons, Kelmer Jr., Keenan and Brad Steverson; daughters, Karen Dabney, Mona Steverson, Deborah Mart, Kellena Steverson, Sandra Coleman, Karen Bailey and Markel Steverson; sister, Leona Steverson Phillips; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He is buried at Deweyville Cemetery.
