Ignace “Capt. Enis” J. Ribardi, a lifelong resident of Morgan City, La., died Friday, April 9, 2010 at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center.

Capt. Enis, as friends called him, spent much of his life commercial fishing on Louisiana’s waters and, for 42 years, at the helm of a boat for Tidewater. A World War II veteran, he was known by those who knew him best as “a man of his word.”

He is survived by his wife, Alice Ratcliff Ribard; daughters, Barbara Evans and Faye (C.W.) Harris; sons, Harris (Lorraine), Enis (Dana) and Jared (Jennifer) Ribardi; brother, George Ribardi Jr. of Berwick; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild.

He is buried at Morgan City Cemetery.
