Rodney Gisclair Sr. officially joined the nine-member Greater Lafourche Port Commission board May 11 at a formal ceremony. Gisclair was elected last month for fill Seat D. The seat was previously held by Donald Vizier, who resigned earlier this year.

The GLPC has jurisdiction over Port Fourchon and the South Lafourche Airport.

Gisclair, who ran on the promise to be a full-time commissioner dedicated to advancing the port, will serve the remainder of the board’s 2013-18 term. Commissioners serve six-year terms, and the GLPC is the state’s only elected port commission.

“Rodney is going to be a great addition to our board,” board president Perry Gisclair said. “He is recently retired from a decades-long career in the marine industry and has an inside perspective on how we can support our local businesses for the betterment of our port and our community.”
