“A Christmas Story” (Baton Rouge) Dec. 7-17, 7:30 p.m. curtain with 2 p.m. Sunday matinees, at the Baton Rouge Little Theater, 7155 Florida Blvd. Jean Shepherd’s class tale of a boy’s quest to get a Red Ryder BB-gun for Christmas. “The Exception and the Rule” (Baton Rouge) Dec. 5-10, 7:30 p.m. curtain with a 2 p.m. matinee Sunday, at the Hatcher Hall Theatre on Fieldhouse Drive on the LSU campus. Featuring a work by Bertoldt Brecht, this production is directed by John Dennis and tells of a rich merchant’s journey across a desert en route to close an oil deal. A $6 donation is suggested. “Annie” (Metairie) through Dec. 10, 7:30 p.m. curtain Saturdays with a 2 p.m. matinee Sundays, at the Jefferson Performing Arts Center, 400 Phlox St. One of the world’s best-loved musicals, the stage is set in the 1930s. It chronicles a fiery young orphan girl’s plight as she hopes to one day be reunited with her family only to find a new father in Oliver Warbucks. The production will also be presented Dec. 16, 17, 22, 23 and 26-20 at Mandeville High Theatre, #1 Skipper Dr., in Mandeville. “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” (Houma) Dec. 15-16, 7 p.m. curtain Saturday with a 2 p.m. matinee Sunday, at the Harvest Cathedral, 1224 Museum Dr. A light-hearted holiday comedy.
