“Folk Art of Alvin Batiste,” Aug. 15-16, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Features works created by the renowned southeast Louisiana artist. Batiste will be painting live. His works speak of humor, spirituality, scriptures, hurricanes Katrina and Rita, architecture and plantation life, and include his “Big Mama” series.
