The Bayou Country Children’s Museum is excited to invite the community to its upcoming Cajun Jam & Fiddle Showcase! This special event will highlight the talents of young musicians who have spent the past six weeks learning the rich traditions of Cajun fiddle music.

“In partnership with the Cajun Music Preservation Society, these beginner fiddlers will perform live, sharing the stage with experienced musicians and bringing to life the authentic sounds of Cajun culture,” reads a statement from the Bayou Country Children’s Museum. “This showcase speaks to our mission to preserve and promote our Cajun heritage and we’re thrilled to be able to share this evening with our community.”

The Bayou Country Children’s Museum is honored to also have Georgia Boswell of Drews Tunes as a special guest. Drews Tunes, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting music education in Louisiana, has generously provided fiddles for our learners, enabling children to discover and nurture their passion for Cajun music. In memory of Drew Boswell, the organization’s mission is to foster a love of music and bring the joy of playing instruments to children across the state. Georgia will share a few words about Drews Tunes and the incredible impact their support has had on the next generation of musicians.

Families are encouraged to attend and enjoy an evening of live music, cultural celebration, and fun. The event is open to all ages, making it a perfect outing for music lovers of all backgrounds. The event will take place on October 8, 2024 at 5:00 PM at the Bayou Country Children’s Museum in Thibodaux.

The Bayou Country Children’s museum plays a vital role in helping our region’s children, families, and organizations embrace the love of learning and the power of play while celebrating our unique Cajun culture. Located in Thibodaux, Louisiana, this hands-on museum provides the type of recreational learning experience desired by parents and educators that has a lasting impact on child development. For children, play is a critical way to find out about new things. The ability to play is instrumental in scientific exploration, discovery, and creativity. The museum offers school break and summer camps, field trips, tot day camps and hosts birthday parties throughout the year.
