Come out for the inaugural Brunch Under the Oaks, a delectable fundraiser Cook-Off at St. Matthew’s Episcopal School

Get ready for a mouth-watering experience at St. Matthew’s Episcopal School’s upcoming fundraiser! Community members are invited to come out for Brunch Under the Oaks, a cook-off featuring the best in brunch cuisine the bayou has to offer.

Teams of four are invited to compete in one of three categories: Sweet, Savory, or Both. Contestants will present their most delectable dishes—think beignets, pancakes, jambalayas, and more! Brunch is breakfast or lunch, so anything goes. The event will take place on Saturday, September 28, 2024 from 10:00 AM-2:00 PM on the campus of St. Matthew’s. 

Young aspiring chefs (7th grade and below) will compete in teams of four, joined by one adult, in the Kids in the Kitchen Zone, for a range of fun awards like Most Creative, Healthiest Recipe, and Most Unique Ingredient. There will also be a healthy cooking demonstration from Chef Bryan Ledet of Terrebonne General.

In addition to all the delicious food, browse through local craft vendors offering unique handmade items and enjoy a fantastic lineup of live music, including students of the Cournoyer School of Music House Band at 10:00 AM followed by the Canebreakers at 11:00 AM. Beverage partners for the event include Bayou Blends, who will be serving up mimosas and bloody Mary’s, and the Bayou Lemon, who will be serving their hand-squeezed lemonades.

The event is open to the public. Tickets are $10 and can be pre-purchased here or day-of at the gate. Come enjoy a day filled with fantastic food, family fun, and friendly competition, all while supporting St. Matthew’s Episcopal School. Don’t miss out on this tasty event!
