Moms of Hope of the Bayou Region is bringing light and community to a tremendously painful experience, with their Infant Loss Awareness Celebration for parents who have had their children taken too soon.

“Moms of Hope of the Bayou Region is a non-profit infant loss awareness group. I established this organization a year after I lost my own daughter Millie, who was stillborn,” explained Heather Benoit, President of Moms of Hope of the Bayou Region. “What we do each year is bring light to infant loss, showing other mothers and community members that they are not alone in their grief. We want people to know it’s okay not to be okay.”

The 6th Annual Infant Loss Awareness Celebration is open to anyone in the community who has suffered infant loss, or wish to support someone who has. There will be guest speakers, a prayer, a candle lighting, a memory mile, and a butterfly release, but most importantly, a birthday celebration for all the angel babies.

The event will take place on October 20, 2024, at 5:00 PM outside of the House of Prayer Church in Thibodaux.

“This event brings a sense of belonging. This isn’t a club that people want to belong in, but knowing that there are others with similar paths can help,” said Benoit. “Having that understanding and support can make all the difference.”
