Bayou Arts Fest | October 11 12 | Downtown HoumaDive into a vibrant tapestry of creativity at the Bayou Arts Fest, where culture and community converge! Join us in Downtown Houma on Friday, October 11, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Saturday, October 12, from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., for a celebration that transcends boundaries and embraces diversity. Along with our presenting sponsor, Explore Houma and the White Boot Stroll, this year, we’re thrilled to introduce a groundbreaking addition to our festival: The Culture Collective presented by Atchafalaya National Heritage Foundation Legacy Grant. Experience a kaleidoscope of traditions, flavors, and rhythms as we showcase the rich tapestry of cultures that call our area home. From Cajun and Creole to Vietnamese and Native American, immerse yourself in the sights, sounds, and flavors that make our community truly unique.

 

6th Annual Freedom Day USA | October 11 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. | Houma Family Dental– Dr. Stephen Morgan with Houma Family Dental will participate in 6th Annual Freedom Day USA by offering free 30 minute dental procedures to Active, Veteran, and Retired military men and women and their families. Active, Veteran and Retired Military can sign up at www.houmafamilydental.com/freedomday or calling 985-868-5699. Free procedures include: cleaning, filling or extraction.

 

Louisiana Gumbo Festival of Chackbay | October 11 – 13 | Chackbay– Come out to 326 Highway 304 in Chackbay for the 51st Annual Louisiana Gumbo Festival as we celebrate all things Louisiana!

 

Paddle Bayou Lafourche | October 12 from 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. | Lafourche Parish – This event offers an immersive and unique view of Bayou Lafourche and a chance to explore one of the most important waterways of our estuary. BTNEP will be offering a 15-mile paddle starting in Napoleonville and a 9.5-mile paddle starting in Thibodaux. Register at btnep.org.

 

Girl Scouts Louisiana East annual Believe in Girls (B.I.G.) Event | October 12 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. | Nicholls– Girls and their friends and families will spend the day exploring numerous exhibits and presentations. This exciting day focuses on hands-on, educational and informative displays and activities relating to Girl Scouting’s focus areas of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math), Life Skills, the Arts, Outdoors and Entrepreneurship. The event will take place at Nicholls State University. Tickets can be purchased online here.
