A Chackbay man is charged with murder after a shooting yesterday, which killed a 46-year-old man.

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office was called late yesterday morning in reference to a shooting.

Once on the scene, authorities discovered Keith Trosclair, 60, kneeling on the ground with his hands raised in the air and a victim, identified as Christopher Saunders, 46, lying on the ground.

Authorities said they found a rifle lying on the ground between Trosclair and the victim.

Deputies also noticed that Saunders had a pistol in a holster on his belt.

Trosclair was immediately taken into custody and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lafourche Parish Coroner’s Office.

Authorities have investigated the case and they’ve learned that Trosclair and Saunders had an ongoing dispute over property boundary lines between the two.

During an investigation and through interviewing witnesses, detectives developed probable cause for a warrant for Trosclair for second-degree murder.

Trosclair was booked into the Lafourche Parish Jail on the second-degree murder charge.

He remains in jail on a $500,000 bond.
