Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced that authorities are looking for the suspect who stole copper tubing and other parts off of a local radio station’s transmitter site in Golden Meadow.

On Nov. 4, deputies and detectives were called to East Main Street in Golden Meadow in reference to a theft at the radio transmitter site of 1600 AM KLEB-AM – a well-known station in southern Lafourche Parish, owned by State Rep. Jerry Gisclair.

Investigators learned that an air conditioning unit had been dismantled at the site and the copper parts had been removed. Copper grounding wire was also stolen. In all, authorities estimate 40-50 pounds of copper was taken from the location, resulting in thousands of dollars of damage.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers Bayou Region at 1-800-743-7433.

Information which leads to an arrest may net a $1,000 cash reward.
