The Lockport Police has found the man it believes desecrated several graves at a local cemetery.
On April 18, officers were called to the Holy Savior Cemetery on School Street in Lockport in reference to several graves having been damaged.
Officers found more than 30 graves had been damaged and several headstones had been pulled down, flower holders were ripped from their mountings and several plaques were ripped away from their tombs.
Officers got hold of surveillance video and they observed Jared Falgout, 36, of Lockport, damaging the grave sites, which led to a warrant for his arrest.
At around 1:15 a.m. on April 19, Lockport Police officers responded to a house on Delatte Lane in Gheens with Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies to assist, as well.
Officers spotted Falgout standing outside a residence and he was taken into custody without incident.
Falgout is charged with desecration of graves and his bond has been set at $10,000.
The Lockport Police Department is asking anyone who suffered damage to their family tombs to contact either Chief Harrelson directly or Assistant Chief, Sergeant Ricky Breaux Jr. at (985) 532-9799.
