A 58-year-old man is in custody of the Thibodaux Police Department after he allegedly broke into a house and tried to steal medication.

On April 7 at approximately 8 a.m., authorities said they were called to a home on Hickory Street after victims said their house had been broken into through the back door.

When on the scene, authorities learned that the door was open because the victims were cooking.

During that time, Brent Ford, 58, of 703 Hickory St., allegedly walked in without the victims knowing.

When Ford was told to leave, he allegedly threatened one of the victims, telling her that she ‘would come up missing’.

Authorities learned that Ford had gone into the home uninvited several times before, and each time, he was allegedly told not to return.

Police said the victims believed Ford was trying to get medication belonging to an elderly lady that lives at the home.

Authorities located Ford and placed him into custody.

He is charged with unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling and disturbing the peace.

He is held on a $10,500 bond.
