Suspect accused of raping elderly woman

A Thibodaux man is in custody of the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office, accused of kidnapping and beating his ex-girlfriend.
On Dec. 23, deputies responded to a call of kidnapping on Waverly Road in Thibodaux.
Authorities learned that Van Andre, 34, of Thibodaux, made contact with an ex-girlfriend at her residence and a verbal altercation ensued.
When the woman walked inside her house, Andre allegedly followed and then forced the woman out and into his vehicle.
The suspect then drove the woman to his residence on Ledet Drive.
Authorities made contact with Andre at his Ledet Drive residence and they took him into custody immediately without incident.
The victim was located inside and authorities said Andre struck her several times.
Andre is charged with simple kidnapping and domestic abuse battery.
He also was booked on a warrant for contempt of court.
He is held on a $106,000 bond.
