Authorities arrest man who allegedly beat victim with metal object
January 25, 2017A 21-year-old Raceland man is in custody of Terrebonne Sheriff’s authorities after he allegedly stood in the street, while carrying a handgun, while in possession of drugs.
On Jan. 23 at about 5 p.m., deputies were called to the 400 block of Louis Drive in reference to a man standing in the street, while carrying a gun.
Deputies arrived at the location and located a man who fit a description given by the caller.
They identified him as Dain Stokes, 21, of 118 Guidry Lane, Raceland.
Deputies said the man was seated in a car that was parked in front of a residence on Louis Drive.
When authorities approached the vehicle, they said they detected a strong odor of marijuana, which led to a narcotics agent being called to assist in the investigation.
Authorities obtained a search warrant for the vehicle and recovered the following:
• 15 grams of individually packaged marijuana
• Marijuana blunts and joints
• Drug paraphernalia and a digital scale
• $100 in cash
• A high point 9mm handgun
Stokes was arrested for possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, proceeds derived from drug offenses and possession of a firearm in the presence of drugs. He is held on a $30,000 bond.
