March 24, 2017An elderly man is charged with false imprisonment after he allegedly locked his wife in a trailer against her will.
On March 21, Louisiana State Police said it conducted a traffic stop on a suspect identified as Oluse Dupre Jr., 77, of 121 Mardi Gras Court.
During the stop, Dupre allegedly told State Police that he was speeding because his wife was having a panic attack at the family’s camper trailer.
He then allegedly informed the state policeman that he had locked his wife in the trailer, and this was what was causing her to have the panic attack.
At this point, the State Police called the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office, which started an investigation.
Dupre’s son then arrived on the scene and told authorities that his mother had contacted him, advising that the suspect had locked her in the trailer without consent, using a padlock on the outside of the door. The son then said that his mother needed medical attention.
Authorities said Dupre’s son then was able to cut the lock and free his mom from the trailer.
Upon questioning, Dupre’s wife confirmed that she had not consented to being locked inside the trailer, which led authorities to place the suspect under arrest.
Dupre is charged with one count of false imprisonment.+
